 FPIs turn net sellers of debt in previous three sessions

 

  • Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) turned net sellers of Indian debt to the tune of $195.38 million in last three consecutive sessions, data from depositories show. On a year-to-date basis, FPIs bought a net $18.75 billion in the debt segment. Compared to this, the Indian debt market had witnessed a net outflow of $6.45 billion in 2016. The latest depository data show that the general category FPIs have utilised 99.57% of the permitted limit of Rs 1.87 lakh crore in central government securities, while long-term FPIs have utilised 83.50% of the allotted limit of Rs 54,300 crore.
